One Day Trip / Long Transit at Singapore

Ideally, you need to have at least 3 days to get a real vacation. But now, I want to share some tips that you can do one day at Singapore. If you really busy but want a short trip or have a long transit hours in the airport, you can do this instead to kill time. From my experience having a long time in airport, I tried this instead.

My Experience when transit in Changi Airport (picture by me)

Before I start, I’m from Indonesia going to Sydney and transit for around 14 hours in Changi Airport. I used Scoot Airlines for both flights. The plane not too big, so if you need bigger space, you can use other airline or brought the business seat.

Make sure that you already searching for what you want to eat, especially if your transit around breakfast, lunch, and dinner time. You can try staff canteen after you exit the immigration gate. There are 2 staff canteen, in Terminal 1 and 2. Look for counter number 13, follow the path behind it and you can see the “Lift and Staff Canteen” sign. Go to B1 floor and you will find it. The canteen is huge, they also sell a lot of food. The price is lower if you eat here rather than other place in the airport.

If you have more budget, you can try other food in the airport or in Jewel area. I bought Single Shack Burger for under SG$ 10 in Shake Shack. Last time I went here 5 years ago and it was a little different. You need to place your order by yourself in the self service area after a long queue especially in lunch time. They only use card for the payment, no more cash. When you order, please read carefully because some extra ingredients are free like vegetable and sauce, but the others need to pay again.

Jewel Rain Vortex at Day (picture by me)

First thing that you can do beside eating time is sightseeing or shopping. There are a lot of shops in Jewel Changi. They only sell official brand and tax free. For make sure, ask the staff or cashier before you pay. The second place I go is Jewel Rain Vortex in the middle of Jewel Changi. If you had a lot of time in the airport, you can see the Light and Music Showcase every night. There are a lot of tourist spots here. The most famous is from the second floor near the escalator. But for me, I prefer the top floor because not much people went there. The only problem is if you went there at noon, it will be hotter than the lower floor.

When I look around Jewel Changi, I also bought some stuffs in this airport before my next flight. I will put some of shops in Jewel Changi below. After sightseeing in Jewel Changi, I am going back to Changi Airport Terminal 3 because my sister want me to buy a cute mini bag from Beyond The Vines stand in L2. This mini bag has a lot of pastel colors. This bag is viral in Indonesia, so a lot of Indonesian people using entrustment service to buy it.

I still have a lot of hours before my flight, so I decided to go the Movie Theater in Terminal 3 L3. Honestly, you should not sleep here, but a lot of people already sleep when I arrived there. They turn on some Hollywood Movies there. Around dinner time, I go to the Terminal 1 using Skytrain from L2. Went to Seven Eleven in T1 and bought some Irvins Salted Egg Mala Noodle Cup for me and my sister. I ate one and wait in rest area. There are some hot water near baby care room. That was the last thing I did for around 14 hours transit time in Jewel Changi Airport.

One of the most favorite place in Blok M, Jakarta, Indonesia is MBloc Space. It has a lot of food tenants. Not only food, but this place also filled by arts. There are some murals in the back side area. When you enter the area and going straight, you will directly go to the back side. In the right side, you can find the market. In the left side, you can see the murals.

Temu Coffee and Mbok Ndoro (picture by me)

I had lunch at Mbok Ndoro and a glass of coffee in Temu Coffee. Mbok Ndoro sell Indonesia food. When the first time I came here, I need to go to the left side because it placed almost in the corner. You can find this old lady logo if you can’t find the name.

Different for Temu Coffee, they sell a lot of Western food. I also try Pizza Place and take a picture with my friends in MataLokal’s photo booth. MBloc Space has a lot of range of food and drink. If you need drink, you can go to FOYA in the back side area that open at night. There are also some live music at night. This place always crowded at night, especially weekend.

Entrance Area of Hey Beach, Tangerang(picture by me)

When you enter the restaurant, all of the exterior and interior really give the Bali Vibes. They decorate the place with sand and beach decoration. Each corner really instagramable. To be honest, I also come to see their interior~

Eating Area (picture by me)

There are a lot of table and chair. If you bring older people, better to take the stone path and the the table near the entrance because the other area covered with sand. You also can try the lounge area without chair. Like the entrance, the beach and Bali Vibes really cool. They really decorate this place 1000% to give the experience to maximum.

Playing Area (picture by me)

Not only for the awesome decoration, but they also placed some playing area so the children can play while waiting the food. It is a nice idea so they will not be bored just to wait. There is also a neon signage that will light up when the night come.

Toast and Hey Beach Signature Drink (picture by me)

I tried their toast with vanilla ice cream, strawberry, blue berry, and almond slice. It is so sweet but thankfully for the berries make it really good! They also give you honey if you want more sweets in your mouth.

For drink, we try their signature drink and it also nice, especially when the hot weather at noon. It has a little bit sour taste and really fresh.

If you like street food, you can come here. They open from breakfast time to evening, but not dinner time. The place itself will be so hot after you eat the warm soto later. It only has some fans. It is better that you eat fast as you can.

They sell soto mie, soto santan, and soto bening. Soto santan is the one with beef and coconut milk on it. Soto mie and soto bening have clear broth.

I brought Soto Santan and Soto Mie. My family has different taste bud for soto. Me and my dad like Soto Santan. My mom and my sis ter like Soto Mie. I prefer the strong taste and creamy broth. I tried all of the soto here before and these two still my favorite.

Sai Ramen, Tangerang (picture by me)

This place not so far from my home, it need 30 – 60 minutes to get here, but it was the first time I try. It placed inside the building area, but it is not too far from the parking lot. If the rain pour here, you should not eat here because the place is semi outdoor and not that big. You will feel like in Japan when eat here because of the exterior and interior. They also placed small Japan banner and article in the wall.

Self Service Machine (picture by me)

Sai Ramen is one of self service food that still rarely we see in Indonesia. In here, you can order and pay from your phone. It is all cashless, so it is so simple. After order, you will get the receipt and wait for your turn. If the place is empty, you can just sit and wait. It will be crowded in lunch and dinner time. Not only the worker, but people in queue for trying this place, like me~

Curry Katsu Ramen and Original Basic Ramen (picture by me)

I tried their Original Basic Ramen and Curry Katsu Ramen. If you like the original taste of the broth, you can try Original Basic Ramen. For me, I prefer the Curry Katsu Ramen. I like Japanese curry for sure! It has thick broth and strong texture. You also can add some chili oil for the spicy taste. I wanna taste the other menu they have. I will recommended it for sure. Not only the taste is good, but the price also cheaper than other ramen place. So, it is a win win!

Not far from Cici Claypot and Kopi Kohi, you can walk to this Sherlock Common Space. This place has some food stands that can make you hungry all the time. The area is semi outdoor with some beach table in the outdoor space, so the sunshine will not directly touch your skin.

FlapJaks, Bandung (picture by me)

Bought some desserts because we just had claypot and coffee before. We tried the Jacks Couple combo, which are 2 pancakes and 1 latte drink. For pancakes, we chose strawberry and chocolate for the topping. For latte, we chose Jolly pong. I prefer the strawberry pancake because it give a little bit sour taste, so it will be not too sweet. But for the sweet tooth, you must try the chocolate one.

Don’t forget to eat the wafer first because it will be too soft if it blend with the ice cream. Same with the jolly pong latte, if you don’t want too soft, you can eat the topping first. But for us, we dip all the jolly pong, so we can just drink it quickly~

Tjahaja Pagi Snacks, Bandung (picture by me)

I also brought some snacks and desserts in Tjahaja Pagi. The price is different for each food. You can read the price in front of each tray. I like the chocolate roll because it has soft texture that bland outside and sweet inside, so it will be not too sweet. I also like the sandwich one. It has rich texture with the vegetables inside. Overall the snacks is good, but some snacks can be better.

The exterior of Kopi Kohi is just like an ordinary house (the first picture). But when you enter, you can see the green and Japanese vibes here, with the red gate. Kopi Kohi placed in the first floor with some food stands in the second and third floor.

Stone road everywhere in the first floor. The nature vibes really healing you. It is still empty when I visit here. It is around 5 minutes from Cici Claypot by foot. You can see the article HERE.

I just try their Latte. For me, it just a regular latte, not really much different from the others. But if you want a healing space or working space, this place is perfect for you.

Mie Kriuk and Misoa Siram Sapi, Bandung (picture by me)

We tried Mie Kriuk Siram Sapi and Misoa Siram Sapi. Mie Kriuk Siram Sapi is the one with thicker noodle. The other one in the picture is Misoa Siram, the thin noodle. I rarely like the thick one, but because this menu is recommended, so I dare to try.

And … I like it!! The noodle texture not feel that thick and it blend really well with the broth. They chop the beef so nice. If you like spicy food like me, you can add some chili oil. It is really good when you eat it warm.

I bought one latte with gula aren and bring it to the second floor. The taste is not too sweet and not too bitter. I like the taste, but my friends said that this coffee is a little bit bitter for them. This outlet also has photo box. We paid for the picture and retouch our make up before going inside the box. They have a souvenir store near the photo box. A lot of local artists sell their stuff here. For me, I really like postcard and bought one here. The problem in our country is local product is more expensive than import brand.

Not all of the stores open until late night. Angkringan Teteh has a live music and always crowded because the price of their food also not expensive as the restaurant. The raw food placed in a small stand. You can choose whatever you want and they will fry it for you. So, everything here cooked after you pay for what you chose.
